Finally took delivery of my 2010 135i m sport today. I learned a few things.
(Disclaimer: at no point in this recollection of events were any laws broken. I live in Germany and strictly obey all traffic laws at all times. I enjoy living in a place where you are free to enjoy the abilities of your vehicle as long as you follow the rules, and I respect those rules where applicable.)
1. 145 mph is like, super fast.
2. Long sweeping turns at 120 mph are oddly satisfying, especially after said 145 mph sprint.
3. Heel toeing is harder with a fresh stiff brake pedal. Going from a 95 318 with a lot of pedal travel to a car where a big toe leads to massive slow down is a bit of an adjustment.
4. Germans like paperwork. Also, making you wait in lines. Thanks customs! :)
5. I haven’t had a car that sounds this good since my s14 w/ rb20det swap. It sounds so damn good.
6. I absolutely made the right choice in a new (to me) vehicle.
Photos coming soon. Need to actually detail the thing. The dealer gave me no tpms sensors, a quarter tank of gas, and a dirty rear seat. Welcome to Europe?

Isn’t this an American one? The lights look foreign.

When I got my bare bones 2002 520d it was similarly equipped (low fuel level and not cleaned at all.)

Put jb4 and a dual cone intake on it. Sound and speed will be unreal. Also do maintance twice as fast as the computer recommends, and if the miles are highish, consider doing a carbon cleaning on the valves. The 135i is bmw’s hidden secret. It's the only one from that generation with good brakes (brembos). Enjoy, I love the color.

It is indeed American spec. It was delivered to another service member in Germany when new and has never left. Bmw usa doesn’t even register the Vin as existing yet.

I absolutely want the dual cone. I want to hear those turbos!
I’ll have to wait for a while to get the jb4 but honestly, this is the fastest car I’ve ever owned. I have plenty of learning to do before my skill out ways the cars capabilities.

Remember when you bought a car and they would fully detail and fill it up?
they did service it for me though so that’s the important bit.

Take your time. The power is a lot but the chassis is quite capable. Consider taking it to autox or track day. It'll help you learn the limits a lot faster and a lot safer.

I noticed a little understeer when getting on power out of tight turns, which in hear the car is known for. Other than that it always felt like no matter how fast the turn was I could have gone faster. Almost scary how capable it feels. As in I was in a right hand sweeper in the outside lane doing 120 and proceeded to change lanes to the inside and the car shrugged it off like I was going 60.
I’m so excited

Throw some m3 control arms on her. Or a square set of tires. Under steer happens which I think is fine for the street. I don't know if you can dial more camber on the 135i, but that and a square set of tires made my m3 want to oversteer a ton on the track.

Also, get a valentine one. It'll pay for itself.

My research (forums) says bmw sets the car up to understeer from the factory as a safety precaution. The easiest ways to dial it out that I’ve found are
1. Put the camber back to neutral or slightly negative and I think the toe needs adjusting as well.
2. Get a set of square tires, which I can’t justify the cost right now
3. Stiffen up the front with a sway bar or the like. This has proven to be controversial thoug. Most say to put a sway bar in back, but that just lowers the available traction to artificially balance it. I was told the stiffening the front will eliminate the understeer without sacrificing rear traction.
tl:Dr I need an alignment.
